The most popular side-entrance gates that we make and install are the featheredge and tongue and groove boarded gates. We usually install these gates alongside the house, leading to the back garden, making a strong and secure entrance.

This tongue and groove effect framed side entrance gate made with cedar is a handsome gate for any property. The boards are half-lapped rather than tongue & groove which stops problems with expansion of the boards if the gate is hung in exposed situations.

Pair of Himalayan cedar tongue & groove effect side gates. Hanging on 4" X 3" wall plates which are rag-bolted to the walls and slams on 5" X 5" pressure treated posts.

The framed tongue & groove gate makes a strong side gate, good for security and pleasing to look at. The 4" X 3" framework is fully mortised & tennoned & oak pegged for extra strength. The above gate is hung & slams on 4" X 3" wall plates fixed to the house and an existing concrete post. In most situations, being a heavy gate, it would hang on a 5" X 5" or 6" X 6" post.
