Tongue & groove boarded gates.

We make our boarded gates with a high grade, close-grained redwood with an option of quality waterproofing stain colours. All redwood gates are finished with a minimum of two coats of waterproofing stain before they are installed especially the unseen parts of the boards and framework before the boards are put on. A third coat is applied upon request. The framework is traditionally stop chamfered and all frame joints are pre-treated, morticed and tenoned and traditionally oak pegged for extra stability. These gates offer exceptional value compared to many other gates on the market. These gates are ideal as driveway gates, side entrance gates, wall entrance gates or any situation a good looking gate is needed.
Our boarded gates, made with a substantial framework and 19mm or 25mm boards tend to be rather heavy so will need to be hung on posts up to the task. All gates over four feet wide are hung on 7" X 7" pressure treated posts, planed, sanded and stained the colour of the gates. If wall plates are needed, 4" X 3" or 5" X 4" timbers are fixed to the wall with correct sized rag-bolts.
Furniture includes as standard all galvanized, adjustable hinges, lockable drop bolt and traditional twisted ring-pull latch. Cabin hooks are included to safely hold the gates open.
An optional key-lockable sliding bolt may be installed if you wish to lock the gates from inside or outside the gates.
We can make boarded gates
to suit any size of driveway entrance at no extra cost.

Palisade boarded entrance gates
With antique pine coloured waterproofing stain
We make this good looking, classic set of drive gates with a few ideas of our own. The palisades, which can be any preferred shape or height (depending upon privacy) are morticed into their own separate framework which prevents water penetrating the gate framework (which tends to happen if the palisades are morticed into the top framework).
A drop-bolt stay is concreted into the ground if no suitable concrete groundwork is available.
As with all our t&g boarded gates the boards are screwed to the frame and the counter-sunk holes are plugged with side-grain plugs and sanded flush to the boards.
A traditional stop chamfer to the framework gives a pleasing appearance with a twisted ring-pull latch and adjustable hinges used as standard furniture.
Three coats of natural coloured antique pine waterproof stain has been used on these gates.
These gates make a nice driveway gate or a single leaf would make a nice side entrance gate.

Double boarded Palisade driveway gates
With med oak waterproofing stain
These Palisade driveway gates (4ft high and 12ft wide) are double boarded which gives the same view on both sides (A shame to hide the framework but some customers prefer this).
Made with the same framework as our other boarded gates which makes them very heavy so we hang them on 7" X 7" pressure treated larch posts.
